Capify: how it works and what it costs
Short-term business loans of £10,000 to £3 million over 3 to 12 months, with same-day funding possible.
How it works
Capify is a short-term lender. Business loans run from £10,000 to £3,000,000. Unsecured terms are 3 to 12 months, and secured products stretch to around 2 years. Around the core loan it also offers secured loans, cash flow loans, bridging, commercial mortgages, invoice finance, asset finance and VAT funding. One product is notably absent: Capify's merchant cash advance has been withdrawn from its current line-up, so if you came here expecting an MCA, that is no longer what it sells.
The entry bar is moderate. You need more than 12 months of trading history, monthly turnover of at least £10,000 and a UK registered business. Expect a personal guarantee from the majority owner. That is a legal promise that if the business cannot repay, the guarantor pays personally. It is standard across unsecured business lending, but it still deserves a careful read before signing.
Speed is the pitch. Capify says same-day funding is possible on unsecured loans. Secured products take 24 to 48 hours, since security takes longer to verify. If cash needs to land today, unsecured is the fast lane.
Repayments are fixed and regular until the loan is cleared, and there are no early repayment fees. Be clear-eyed about the arithmetic of a short term, though. Borrow £60,000 over 6 months and the capital alone is £10,000 a month, before any cost of borrowing is added. Stretch the same £60,000 over the full 12 months and it is still £5,000 a month. A short-term loan suits a short-term need with the revenue to match, not a long-running gap in the accounts.
What you will not find anywhere on the site is a price. At the time of checking there is no representative example, no advertised interest rate and no factor rate. The promise of "no hidden fees" is welcome, but a cost you only learn at quote stage is not a cost you can compare in advance. The quote is where the real information lives, and the cost section below covers exactly what to ask for.
What it really costs
Capify publishes no representative example, no interest rate and no factor rate on its site at the time of checking. It says there are "no hidden fees", repayments are fixed and regular, and there are no early repayment fees. That is all the site tells you. The real cost only appears when you get a quote.
The quote has to do the work instead. The figure that matters is the total repayable in pounds, not a rate. Take away the amount borrowed and what is left is the true cash cost of the loan. Two things are worth pinning down in writing at that point: whether settling early cuts the total repayable or just ends the payments sooner (no early repayment fee is not the same thing as an early repayment saving), and whether any set-up or admin charges apply.
Then weigh that cash cost against the term. A cost that sounds small on a 6-month loan can work out steep as a yearly rate, because you hold the money for half a year but pay the full amount for it. Putting Capify's quote next to a lender that publishes its rates is the quickest way to see whether the price is fair.
Who can apply
- Trading for more than 12 months
- Monthly turnover of at least £10,000
- UK registered business
- Expect a personal guarantee from the majority owner
Good for
- Established firms that need a large sum quickly, up to £3,000,000
- Short, sharp borrowing needs you plan to clear within a year
- Owners who want fixed repayments and no early repayment fees
- Businesses already past £10,000 a month in turnover with a year of trading behind them
Watch out for
- No published rates or representative example. The cost only appears at quote stage, so the total repayable in pounds is the figure that makes a fair comparison possible.
- Short terms mean chunky repayments. £60,000 over 6 months is £10,000 a month in capital alone, before any cost of borrowing.
- Expect a personal guarantee from the majority owner. If the business cannot pay, the guarantor pays personally.
- Unregulated commercial lender with no FCA statement on its site, so fewer formal protections apply.
- Capify's merchant cash advance has been withdrawn. Older reviews and comparison pages recommending Capify for MCAs are out of date.
How Capify compares
Capify's case is speed and headroom: same-day money possible on unsecured loans, and loans up to £3,000,000. Its weakness is that there is no published price, so the cost cannot be compared before applying. Other short-term lenders in this directory, such as iwoca and Fleximize, are the natural side-by-side checks for a Capify quote. And where the need is really a multi-year one, a longer-term loan, such as those from Funding Circle, usually means smaller monthly repayments than a 12-month sprint.

Common questions
What does my business need to qualify for a Capify loan?
More than 12 months of trading history, monthly turnover of at least £10,000, and a UK registered business. Expect a personal guarantee from the majority owner as well.
How fast can Capify pay out?
Same-day funding is possible on unsecured loans. Secured products typically take 24 to 48 hours. As with any lender, a clean application with paperwork ready is what makes the fast end of that range realistic.
Will I need to sign a personal guarantee?
Expect one from the majority owner. A personal guarantee means that if the business cannot repay, the lender can pursue the guarantor personally for the debt. It is worth understanding exactly what that puts on the line before signing.
Can I repay a Capify loan early?
Capify says there are no early repayment fees. What the site does not say is whether settling early reduces the total you repay, so that is worth asking when you get a quote. With some short-term lenders, paying early just ends the payments sooner without cutting the overall cost.
Is Capify regulated by the FCA?
There is no FCA statement on Capify's website. Capify is a trademark licensed to United Kapital Limited and Capify UK Limited, operating as an unregulated commercial lender. Much business lending sits outside FCA regulation, but it does mean fewer formal protections than a regulated product.
Does Capify still offer merchant cash advances?
No. At the time of checking, the merchant cash advance has been withdrawn from Capify's current product list. Its core product is now the short-term business loan. If a cash advance is what fits, some providers still offer them.
